I love helping people out by taking photo’s for them.  Like I’ve said, I’m not really doing this for the money.  It’s more for my enjoyment and fun.  But, taking photo’s of one-year-old’s isn’t the easiest or most fun thing for me to do.  They are difficult, don’t cooperate, and have attention spans like gnats.  However, at the end, when you’re all done and processing the photo’s and you end up getting a shot that just makes you smile, then it’s always worth the extra effort it takes and why I keep saying yes when friends ask me to take pictures of their sweeties turning one.

This is my favorite person in the whole world to take photo’s of.  He’s my best buddy and son.  I love his blue eye’s and I love those little freckle’s on his nose.  I wish he’d smile for me just a little more when I’m taking his picture, but I’ll take a serious one now and then too!

I was scrolling through Twitter earlier this week and found a tweet by Glyn Evans (@glyn_e) highlighting a new iPhone App called Pic Grunger on his iPhoneography Blog.  I’m not going to talking much about the details of the App, because you can go read about it by clicking on the link above.  Glyn’s already doing an excellent job keeping us iPhone App and photography lovers informed, so no need for me to waste my time.

What I do want to do, is show you a few of my pictures and show what you can actually do with the Pic Grunger App.  It’s super easy to use, very fun, only costs $0.99 and you’ll love it!

I almost called and cancelled this photo session.  I’ve been traveling a ton with my design job at the engineering company and all I really wanted to do on this day was veg on the couch.  I’m so glad I decided to go ahead and do this, because it just might be my favorite photo session to date.  I LOVED the natural ability Miss Bre had with her poses and she did such a fantastic job.  She made my first teen/senior picture session so easy!

Family Failure

The first large family photo session I did was challenging.  Mainly because I was so new with my digital camera.  I didn’t know this family at all and I had been recommended to them by friends.  I started to get really stressed out about half way through the session because all the photos where turning out blue.  I finally took a little break and started looking through the settings on my camera and that’s when it hit me, I had been playing with the white balance a few weeks prior to this shoot and had forgotten to change it back.  It was still set on fluorescent, which doesn’t work well with outdoor photography.  It took me hours to edit all of these photos, but they ended up purchasing one of the “failed” prints. (Shown above) I know, I know…it’s pretty bad, but I’ve come a long ways since this shoot.

This is the first real photo shoot I did for friends after I purchased my first Digital SLR.  I had so much fun and even though it’s very difficult to choose my favorite photo, this one is close to the top.  I called this one “Huckleberry Finn & Tom Sawyer”.
